I spent quite a while in Pflugerville because a friend of mine lived there and I also started exploring other parts of the city, like downtown and the South Side. Driving north on I-35, you might get the impression that all the restaurants outside of downtown Austin are national fast food chains, which I thought until I spent some time in the area. , that is not the case. I would imagine that many of the local restaurants, especially those on the east and west sides, have difficulty getting a foothold in Austin.
